We’ve compiled a mix of sparking, white, red and sweet wine to suit both back garden and dinner table. Read on for the rundown:
Sparkling: Dominio de Punctum, Pet Nat Lanzado 2020
Unfiltered, cloudy and naturally sparkling wine, made without added sugar. A 50-50 blend of Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc, it’s a revitalising sipper. Yeasty, lemon, green apple
White: Churton, Sauvignon Blanc 2021
Intensely aromatic, hand-harvested and biodynamic Sauvignon from Marlborough, New Zealand. From 30 year old vines planted up in the hills, this is elegant and restrained small batch example. Passionfruit, melon, capsicum
White: Domaine de la Verpaille, Mâcon-Villages Vieilles Vignes 2020
Our most popular white wine over the past three harvests. Made from the fruit of hundred year old vines, which yield a small volume of grapes, with greater concentration of flavour. White peach, intense minerality, struck match
Red: Casa de Mouraz, Dāo Tinto 2015
Unoaked and medium bodied, traditional Portuguese field blend of over 15 grape varieties. From a mixed planted vineyard, and producers who are clawing their way back after losing half their vineyard in a forest fire in 2017. Plum, fig, mint
Red: Domaine La Lauzeta, Mezura 2016
A blend of 60% Syrah, 25% Grenache and 15% Carignan. Aged in large French and Austrian oak casks, this is a full bodied but supple and deeply fruity red, with hints of ‘garrigues’ herbs. Definite salinity here too. Blackcurrant, sage, lobster shells
Sweet: Bodegas Robles, Caprichoso NV
Medium sweet blend of Pedro Ximénez and Verdejo from Montilla Moriles, Southern Spain. In sultry weather, makes a refreshing aperitif with an ice cube or two. Or perfect after dinner with fruit based desserts; or enjoy in the afternoon with Simnel cake… Orange blossom, apricot, caramel
Bought separately, these wines would cost £110.50.
Enjoy them this Spring for £100.
