Platinum Winner, with 97 points, at 2021’s Decanter World Wine Awards
The fruit of a 40 year old plus mixed vineyard in Portugal’s Dāo region, where Casa de Mouraz keep the once strong local tradition of making field blends alive. Up to 30 different grape varieties, both white and red, go into this remarkable wine.
The end result is a red wine that is deep and supple. Fermented in concrete tanks, this 2015 blend still tastes youthfully fruity; expect lashings of blackcurrant, black cherry, brambles and fig.
Sara Dionisio and António Lopes Ribeiro are bravely rebuilding their 13 hectare estate in the Dāo region, after six hectares of vines were burned by a forest fire in 2017. Their wine warehouse and António’s ancestral family home, were also consumed by the blaze. We are delighted to be supporting their efforts by selling their delicious wines.
