Our Roots
We’re two brothers raised in a family that valued food and drink – and the social ritual of coming together to share it. Wine enhanced and elevated the evening meal, and we’ve loved it ever since.
Before Substrata, Tom worked in hospitality, the charity sector and in organic food, whilst Ben comes from a social care and retail background, including working for a multiple wine retailer. We’ve both studied with the WSET in Bermondsey, London, but our passion is for low intervention wine, so in 2018 we quit our jobs and went to volunteer on organic vineyards.
