About Caligore, Bonarda 2020
Many of you have enjoyed Caligiore’s natural Malbec, grown in the highest of altitudes, Luján de Cayo, Mendoza, Argentina, some 1,000 metres above sea level.
This elevation makes for a long and slow ripening, ensuring plenty of time on the vine for flavour compounds to develop, and cool evenings to ensure good acidity and definition to the wine.
This partnership offering to the Malbec is made from Bonarda, an important grape variety in Argentina, second only to Malbec in vineyard plantings of quality varieties.
This is a (numbered) limited edition natural wine from 2020, made without any additional sulphites, and it absolutely jumps out of the glass.
Expect explosively ripe aromas of raspberry, black cherry and blackcurrant, with hints of fruit cake spice. There’s a savoury quality to the plush mid palate, with a hint of black olive before a soft and rounded finish.
This is a wine with wide appeal – there’s a pure and fruit driven quality that will appeal to natural wine drinkers and those with more classic tastes.
Deep purple in hue, it will warm even the coldest winter night, and melt the most Scrooge-like of hearts.
