About New Finds from Interior Portugal

Hot of the press / cool off the boat… we’ve just shipped from our two favourite growers in interior Portugal: André Duque Lourenço, Mr Gardunha Sul, from Beira Baixa; and Elisa Freire Lobo from the Dão.

Both make high quality low intervention wines from indigenous grape varieties, and we’ve curated a case of six of their wines well suited to bring some warmth and cheer to your Winter.

Both are small producers, and some of these wines are only available in exceptionally small quantities.

Left to right:

Gardunha Sul, Primeiras Gotas, Bica 2024

Crisp, dry and salty white, with notes of preserved lemon and ginger.

Gardunha Sul, Primeiras Gotas Curtimenta 2023

Full bodied, juicy and refreshing orange wine. Notes of peach, blood orange and toasted pine nuts.

Gardunha Sul, Primeiras Gotas, Corricāo 2024

Soft and medium bodied natural red, with bright acidity and notes of wild strawberry, cranberry and balsamic.

Freire Lobo, Dão DOC, Granite Terroir White Field Blend 2023

Full bodied but elegant white, with distinct minerality, well balanced acidity and notes of lemon and grapefruit.

Freire Lobo, Dão DOC, Granite Terroir Red Field Blend 2021

A full bodied and well structured red, with notes of black cherry, fig and green pepper.

Freire Lobo, Dão DOC, Touriga-Nacional 2023

Delicate aromas of violets and blackberries and plums with a peppery hint and a soft, mineral and minty finish.
