About A Nod to Tradition

We’ve created a six pack of key traditional wine styles, to make the perfect accompaniment to the festive season.

Domaine Begude, ‘Le Crémant De Bégude’, Crémant De Limoux, 2021: (12%)  A Blanc de Blanc of Chardonnay from the limestone soils of a high altitude site, situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees. An initial wild fermentation followed by two years on the lees, this is high quality sparkling without the Champagne price tag. Notes of lemon, baked apple and pastry. Perfect start to the holiday season.

Freire Lobo, Dão DOC Encruzado, 2022: (13.5%)  A single varietal wine, made from one of Portugal’s most esteemed indigenous grapes with notes of white flowers, almonds and grapefruit. Encruzado is considered Portugal’s answer to wine Burgundy, and this soft and mineral white would make a perfect companion to a turkey dinner or to a nut roast.

Domaine La Lauzeta, St Chinian, ‘ Jauzimen’ rosé, 2022: (12.5%)  All too easy to drink. Relatively deep in colour and fruit-forward in character – think strawberries and cream. Perfect on Christmas morning to ease you into the day. Sip whilst you cook (it’s the chef’s privilege!) or enjoy with a seafood starter.

Domaine La Lauzeta, Vin de France, ‘Fantazia’ Cinsault, 2023: (12%) This increasingly popular grape variety ripens at a naturally low alcohol by volume, even in warmer climates. Light in colour with bright notes of raspberry and cherry, it’s a thirst-quenching red, especially when served lightly chilled. Great informal sipper to offer impromptu guests. Enjoy with a plate of leftovers – or with spicy dishes.

Domaine La Lauzeta, St Chinian ‘Mezura’ rouge 2016: (15%) Deep, intense and full-bodied, marrying blackberry fruit and garrigue herbs of fennel and sage, and an iodine note to the finish. Perfect with beef or mushroom wellington.

Bodegas Robles, ‘Caprichoso’ Dulce NV: (12.5%) A medium sweet wine that is a blend of Verdejo and Pedro Ximénez. Vivid aromas of fruit, honey and white flowers, and a refreshing spritz on the palate. Serve chilled as an aperitif, with mild or creamy cheeses or with mince pies and Christmas cake…
