We’re bringing a taste of interior Portugal to eastern England, with a Portuguese-inspired menu prepared and served by Jacob and Ellen, owners and operators of The Steam Packet.

We’ll be pouring six wines from the two small independent growers in interior Portugal whose wines we exclusively import into the UK; and finishing with a Tawny Port (a little off theme, but very tasty…)

We’ll be showcasing three new wines from André Duque Lourenço from the volcanic soils of Beira Baixa, and three new vintages from Elisa Freire Lobo, from the granitic soils of the Dão.

Explore core natural wine styles – pet nat, skin contact/orange wine and a chilled red, paired with a flavoursome six course meal.

Jacob and Ellen will be creating alternative dishes for vegetarians and vegans on the week of the event, when they know what produce will be available. Please indicate if you are vegetarian or vegan when booking.

Refreshing and fruity, with notes of wild strawberry, rosehips and redcurrants

2) Freire Lobo, Sardanita Pet Nat 2023/24 (13%, retail price £23)
 Unashamedly cloudy naturally sparkling wine, with notes of lemon, elderflower and custard apple                                     Deep fried Gordal olive 

3) Freire Lobo, Sardanita Peculiar white 2023 (12.5% £23)
Peculiar only in its skin contact, this is a gentle and elegant introduction to orange wine, with notes of nectarine and almond
Sheep’s curd, tomatoes & oregano 

4) Gardunha Sul, Bica white 2024 (12.5%, £25)
First UK pour of this new skin contact white or orange wine. Delicate appearance with an oily texture and notes of preserved lemon, mandarin and ginger
