About A Taste of Barossa

We’ve shipped a broad range of Barossa Wines from three small independent producers, to offer a sense of both the quality and variety of wine from the region. These wines, exclusive to Substrata in the UK, exude the joyful warmth of the region.

This six pack offers an introduction to all three growers, and a taste of six single varietal reds; three with long traditions in the Barossa Valley – Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro; and three that are little planted and rarely found – Aglianico, Trousseau and Cinsault.

Hayes Stone Well Shiraz 2019: Dark berried fruit, with some peppery spice and hints of vanilla

Hayes Grenache 2020: Just 400 (numbered) bottles made. Never previously exported. Very low yielding year makes for a super concentrated Grenache, with deep dark fruit

Izway Mataro 2019: Ripe plum, black cherry and fig notes. Dark, floral and spicy

Izway Mates Aglianico 2020: Unoaked and deep purple in the glass. Flavours of orange rind, Campari and bitter herbs

Smallfry Pimpernel Trousseau 2021: Tangy red fruit, underpinned by a mushroom-y earthiness and a soft, herbal quality – mint or lemon balm

Smallfry Starry Starry Night Cinsault 2021: Light, ripe and juicy, bursting with bright red fruits – strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate.
